Ed "Big Daddy" Roth

Ed "Big Daddy" Roth was one of the founding beatnik fathers of the Hot Rod/Surf Scene culture in the 50's n' 60's. He created such colorful characters as "Ratfink" and "Mr. Weirdo" seen here, as well as expressions like "Turned On", "Psych-Out", and "Real Groovey". Teens ate this stuff up, stoking their sicker sensibilities.

Like, it was all about groovy hot rods, hippie beatniks, and crazy surf babes & dudes - all drawn for maximum shock value with disgustingly detailed imagery. He also illustrated and published many magazines, books, models, toys and etc...

This issue is especially fitting as the expression "like wow" probably originated around the time of Big Daddy.
